I feel like quitting almost every single day. My guess would be that you experience this same feeling as well.
Unfortunately, if you’re someone who is highly motivated and ambitious, you’re going to experience a lot of obstacles in your life. And when you encounter these obstacles, you’re going to feel like quitting.
During these periods of adversity, you’re going to hear a lot of people tell you to just keep on going, no matter what. “Quitters never win and winners never quit,” they’ll say.
This, however, is bad advice.
Winners do quit. In fact, winners quit all the time.
In his book “The Dip,” Seth Godin debunks the common myth that “quitters never win.”
“Winners quit fast, quit often, and quit without guilt.”
The world is full of successful individuals who have quit their way to success by quitting the things they weren’t good at or the things they didn’t love so that they could spend their time doing something even better.
Individuals, for example, will quit their job if they feel they’re doing work they’re not passionate about.
Companies will quit features if they see that their users and customers don’t like it.
And entrepreneurs will quit college so that they can start and launch their businesses.
Winners quit all the time. However, what winners never do is quit just because something is hard. Unfortunately, this is exactly why most people do quit.
Keep in mind you can definitely be the best in the world at something. You just have to quit the things that don’t bring you closer to your goals and preserver with the things that do.
